A Convergence of Solutions

Every project starts with a program, then we apply bottom-up solutions to fulfill the original vision, until completion.

One House at a Time

In Nova Scotia, Lab Atelier made a name for itself by restoring abandoned ancestral dwellings. We secured an abandoned property, rebuilt it, sold it, later. And repeated.

We strove to create something unique as we moved towards completion, achieving the original vision. To combine design and construction helps preserve the initial vision, and to enrich it as the construction goes. The vision guides every decision.

By staying within the boundary of the original footprint, Lab Atelier adds value to a project, mainly with these actions:

  • Better use of the space available.
  • Reinforcing the relationship with the site.

A Step-by-Step Approach

Our approach is focused on understanding your needs and providing practical solutions. From personalized consultations to hands-on assistance.

We start by establishing a program and a style guide. We draw the blueprints for the layout of the house, and sketch the elevations. As the construction progresses, we filter new ideas against the means available. We constantly adapt the journey to make the vision come true.

Lab's followers love the feeling of space and the natural light flooding into every home, and they find the number of details in each of our projects amazing.

Alex Talk Design

As a designer, I act in multiple ways to orchestrate a sustainable house:

  • A clutter-free layout for an organized, elegant look.
  • Natural light flooding in to create a warm, inviting ambience.
  • Ergonomic design, enhancing the conduct of daily activities.
  • A sense of space by delimiting open floor, high ceilings, and strategically placed windows.

You see, there is more to the eye than design. It is all about creating spaces, making what is delimitated by walls, floors, and ceilings, alive.

When I start a new project, I ask myself: What is the essence of that building? What is its potential and its limits? And what is the essence of what we want to accomplish?
